Sebastiano Barbieri

Senior Lecturer

Dr. Sebastiano Barbieri is interested in developing novel machine learning methods and in applying these techniques to various problems in health and medicine, with the aim of improving patient care and making clinical processes more streamlined and effective.

Sebastiano completed his PhD in computer science at the Fraunhofer MeVis Institute for Digital Medicine and Jacobs University Bremen, Germany and obtained Master's degrees in visual computing (Saarland University, Germany) and biostatistics (Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia and Macquarie University).

His current research focuses on deep learning for risk prediction based on electronic medical records, applications of reinforcement learning in health, and medical image processing.
