After completing his PhD, he moved to Brisbane and did post-doctoral research at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research before moving to Sydney in 2012.

Since coming to the School of Medical Sciences at UNSW in 2012, he has worked on the role of epigenetics in metabolic disease particularly in obesity. He is returning to the UK in March to establish a lab working on Epigenetic mechanisms of NAFLD at the Institute of Hepatology, London.
