How to apply

Local

You are a local applicant if you are:

  • an Australian citizen
  • an Australian permanent resident
  • a New Zealand citizen

Local applicants are ineligible to apply as international students, irrespectively of their citizenship of any other country.

International

You are an international applicant if you are not:

  • an Australian citizen
  • an Australian permanent resident
  • a New Zealand citizen

Applicants who have Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency must apply as local applicants and are ineligible to apply as international students, irrespective of their citizenship of any other country.

International applicants

 

Indigenous

Local applicants of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin can apply through the Indigenous Entry into Medicine Scheme. Applicants must choose to apply through the Indigenous Entry into Medicine Scheme or general local entry, they cannot apply through both.

Indigenous applicants

 

Rural

Local applicants can apply through the Rural Student Entry Scheme if they have lived in a defined rural location in Australia for a significant amount of time. Applicants must choose to apply through the Rural Student Entry Scheme or general local entry, they cannot apply through both.

Applicants who lived in a rural location other than Australia or international applicants are not eligible for the scheme.
