Overview

As one of the world’s top 50 medical faculties, UNSW Medicine is building the future of healthcare. Our leading educators, researchers and clinicians are translating discoveries into breakthrough cures, therapies and treatment strategies and turning high achieving students into caring healthcare professionals with globally recognised qualifications.

UNSW Medicine understands it takes ongoing innovation and open, bright minds to meet the formidable global, national and local challenges of ageing populations, increasingly complex medical treatments and stretched healthcare budgets. To continuously improve patient outcomes, UNSW Medicine is backing medical research over the long term, recalibrating the way medicine is taught, scrutinising modern healthcare delivery and realising the potential of new technologies. And by prioritising social equity and inclusion, UNSW Medicine is ensuring the future delivery of relevant, insightful healthcare to poorly-served Indigenous and rural communities.

UNSW Medicine’s unique undergraduate-entry MD (Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine) program combines excellence in medical education with exceptional opportunities for students. Students learn alongside renowned clinicians and researchers and have the opportunity to connect and collaborate across the classroom and across the world via UNSW’s world-leading interactive medical education technology. UNSW Medicine’s year-long Independent Learning Project, an Australian first, builds the critical thinking and problem solving skills that give our graduates a competitive edge in forging high profile, globally mobile, clinical or research careers.

With eight schools in Sydney, a Rural Clinical School with country campuses across NSW, and close affiliations with some of Australia’s finest hospitals and healthcare organisations, UNSW Medicine is committed to improving healthcare delivery and outcomes for every patient. Our many prestigious affiliated research centres and institutes foster research excellence and collaboration, nationally and globally, and drive innovation in every aspect of our work.
